Having the proper statistical analysis is crucial to knowing where your marketing efforts are paying off. Conversely, you can also tell where they are not. Knowing where you stand in the sea of search engines and social networking is the first step to identifying what the next step is. But the first thing is getting setup with a great analytics software.

Currently we are using Google Analytics for its robust feature-list and great price ( free ). Once you are setup and have allowed it to compile some usable data, you can see where people are coming from, what keywords they are using, what pages they are entering on, the path they took through your site, and where they left. Analytics software can also show you the website ‘bounce rate’.

A ‘bounce’ is when a visitor comes to your site, and instead of continuing to another page, they simply leave. Whether it is a bonafide prospective client who is leaving or just your competition taking a look at your site and dashing off, you can tell what your bounce rate is. The lower the bounce rate, the more your page content is doing the job it should, keeping the user interested. When you have a higher bounce rate, it is time to try some new content ( text, colors, images, etc. ) to appeal your visitors senses. When you have the right data, you have the key to seeing what you should be focusing your marketing efforts on. So take a look back at yourself with ProDeveloper.
